Throughout recent seasons of New York Fashion Week, various designers have adopted the See Now, Buy Now model for their runway shows, allowing consumers to purchase their favorite runway items on the spot rather than waiting for the selling season to start. This Spring/Summer 2017 season, Fashion Week ushered in a slew of See Now, Buy Now collections. Although many designers chose to utilize this trend, a few truly triumphed over the rest.
One of the collections that struck the most appeal was Alexander Wang’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection featuring a surprise announcement of his collaboration with Adidas Originals. Wang’s assortment of flowy pieces, black lace and comfortable button downs truly tapped into his California roots and gave off a totally relaxed vibe. Wang’s pieces were available for purchase by those who were fortunate enough to attend his renowned after party or by those who caught up with the brand’s pop-up trucks in New York City. Needless to say, this collection was a complete success.
Another collection that caught plenty of attention was TommyXGigi, Gigi Hadid’s See Now, Buy Now collaborative collection with Tommy Hilfiger. This array of nautical perfection, shown at New York City’s South Street Seaport, was a true projection of Gigi Hadid’s every day style that still allowed for Hilfiger’s iconic aesthetic to shine through. The highly anticipated collection is being sold online and in stores everywhere after the show, so get your hands on the collection while you can.
Club Monaco, set its stage in New York City’s Grand Central Terminal to feature the brand’s first runway debut and the introduction of their new menswear designer, Matthew Millward. While the neutral tones and military-style outerwear for the menswear payed homage to Club Monaco’s classic look, the women’s collection took a different route and presented a Victorianesque style featuring feminine pleats and ruffles. Both menswear and womenswear presented 35 looks each, all of which can be purchased from the Club Monaco website.
At a scenic waterfront location in Brooklyn, Thakoon Panichgul presented his Fall/Winter 2016 collection. This lovely collection included various breezy, autumnal colored dresses that are perfect for layering in the fall. The leather pointed-toe boots and flats appear to be a perfect staple for any fall wardrobe, and classic fabrics such as lace and silk made an appearance on the runway as surefire staple pieces for the upcoming season. The new collection can be purchased at the designers online store.
Though there were plenty of See Now, Buy Now collections shown this Fashion Week, these are among the ones that stood out in the best ways possible (honorable mentions include Tom Ford, Alice + Olivia and Rebecca Minkoff). Now that See Now, Buy Now clothes have become prevalent in the fashion community, many people eagerly await the next unveiling of a new collection, and to receive their paycheck in order to buy it.
