High Fashion, College Wallet Erin Fetherson S/S 2016

Erin Fetherston, a graduate of Parsons Paris, is known for her whimsical yet elegant designs. Her S/S 2016 collection is no exception, with runway models resembling characters of fairytales straight out of storybooks. Despite the beauty of Fetherston’s designs, it is clear that their prices far exceed the budget of most college students. However, there are alternatives to these pricey designer pieces.

This particular look exemplifies the idea that simplicity is sometimes the best way to go about fashion. It can be dressed up with a trench coat and a pair of strappy sandals or dressed down with gladiator sandals, as displayed on the runway. There is a sense of sophistication to this outfit, but also a flirtatious, fun aspect. The cropped top and cinched bottom will subtly accentuate the torso area.

The two staple pieces of this ensemble are the culottes and the tank-crop top. A pair of Faux Leather Culottes can be found at Zara for $39.90 or even more affordable can be found at Forever 21 for $24.90. And for the white crop top, Urban Outfitters offers a crisp and fitted crop top option for $24.00.

If you are interested in dressing the outfit up with a strappy heel, the ASOS Heartbreak Hotel Lace-Up Heeled Sandals ($81) are the perfect option. To give the look a more casual day vibe, the Studded Stroll Faux Leather strappy sandals from Gojane.com are a mere $18.90.

Since this outfit’s chicness comes from its simplistic nature, it would be best to keep the accessories to a minimum, blown out hair and a more natural face. To take the look from day to night, add a pop of color to this outfit by using a statement lip in a shade such as a violet or burgundy. Many brands offers both shades and Smashbox offers a stunning ‘Be Legendary’ violet.
