High Fashion, College Wallet Nanette Lepore F/W 2015

Nanette Lepore’s Fall/Winter 2015 Collection evoked a feminine military vibe with a 60s twist. She drew inspiration from the idea of a country club full of powerful ladies dressed for a day of success. One look from her collection was a matching A-line skirt and blazer combo with a printed top and platform boat shoes.

This look is perfect for the changing seasons: the blazer provides an extra layer of warmth but is balanced by the taupey-pink hues of the ensemble. The versatility of the pieces make it easy to recreate on a college budget, especially because the pieces you don’t already have are sure to become wardrobe staples.

Urban Outfitters’ Truly Madly Deeply Fitted Cropped Tank Top ($24) in ivory is a great option to mimic the Nanette Lepore top. Any streamlined, monochromatic patterned shirt will be a perfect layering piece.

The sleek seams on Forever 21’s Peach Double Collar Blazer ($27.80) exudes a business-as-usual vibe, but the peach color adds some fun. Pair with the Zippered Faux Leather Mini Skirt ($19.90), also from Forever 21. The A-line shape is flattering and the zippers add interest to the piece.

For shoes, try a patent leather loafer in black or brown. Some more funky options can be found at ASOS such as the Truffle Fre Creeper White Flat Shoes (on sale for $36) or the Truffle Collection Het Chunky Tassle Loafers (on sale for $54). The platform will elevate your look (in more than one way) and put a unique spin on the classic skirt and blazer pairing.

Finish the look by pulling your hair back into a ponytail that isn’t too sculpted. Add a bright lip color and long lashes to polish off your recreation of this Nanette Lepore look.
