High Fashion, College Wallet Banana Republic F/W 2015

This layered look is a great way to bring a pop of color to your wardrobe while still staying cozy. Last season marked the tenure of Marissa Webb as Banana Republic’s designer, and she aims to elevate the brand. Banana Republic took part in New York Fashion Week for the first time this past week, showing off-site in Soho.

One of the standout looks encouraged consumers to embrace color while balancing it with neutrals, and it’s easy to transform this sophisticated yet fun look on a college student’s budget.

A grey jersey-knit turtleneck is a staple in New York for this time of year. It is versatile: pair it with jeans and boots for a simple outfit, or layer with a bright dress to liven up your wardrobe. Forever 21’s Classic Turtleneck Top (on sale for $9.99) is definitely a piece worth purchasing.

Tobi.com, a great online shop for dresses, carries this bright pink sheath dress (Throwback Dress, $48). The clean lines and boxier cut stay true to the Banana Republic ensemble. Standard shipping is free which is always a plus.

Next, add grey Heathered Sweater Tights from the Gap ($13.99) to stay warm. The sweater tights should be a few shades darker than the grey turtleneck to provide some contrast in the base layers of the outfit.

Round out the look with a pair of bright pink heels (Suede Pumps, $59.95). H&M makes a pointy-toed pair that is sure to bring class to your outfit. Lastly, top off your look with pair of rounded frames in darker neutral (Designer Fashion Inspired Large Womens Sunglasses 8446, $9.99). zeroUV is one of the internet’s best kept secrets, with free shipping and the majority of sunglass prices around $10.

Finally, add a pop of color to your lips, and embrace a more casual hairstyle. Pull your hair back into a low bun and let a couple of pieces fall loose to complete a refined yet easy outfit.
