High Fashion, College Wallet: Dolce and Gabbana

Finding a creative, yet stylish Halloween costume is not always easy, especially when you’re on a college budget. However, Dolce and Gabbana has made the process stress-free in their 2014 Fall/Winter show. The show features many allusions to the medieval era, with models donning chainmail hoods and luxurious fur coats. Many of the outfits showcase capes with embroidered forest animals and plants. While many cannot afford to actually buy these beautiful medieval era-inspired looks, we can definitely do our best to imitate them, especially for this upcoming Halloween. There were a few looks in the show that were very reminiscent of childhood fairytale characters—Little Red Riding Hood being one of them.

To start off, the staple Little Red Riding Hood cape can be found at American Apparel. Its California Fleece Cape in red can be found for $65.00. Next, the leggings are best emulated by Hue’s Cotton Leggings in Graphite Heather for $28 or Forever 21’s Shimmering Leggings for $12.80. Lastly, for shoes, try ASOS’s MAXED OUT Suede Loafers in Aubergine for $60.64 or Topshop’s Sandylion Slipper Shoes for $40.00.

To really complete the Little Red Riding Hood look, try a basket or market purse to put all of your necessities in while you’re out. There are many options to choose from—J.Crew offers its Market Purse in Natural Straw for $49.50, Calypso St. Barth has the Valencia Straw Tote for $69.00 or Kate Spade’s Vita Limoni Aria Shoulder Bag for $119.40.
